Happy 4th of July!

I just wanted to wish everyone a Happy 4th of July. I hope everyone stays safe this 4th of July. I know it can get dangerous considering my dad has worked the 4th of July almost of every year. Here are some lyrics to a couple of songs that i really like.

Gretchen Wilson/Merle Haggard
Politically Incorrect-

I'm for the low man on the totem pole
And I'm for the underdog God bless his soul
And I'm for the guys still pulling third shift
And the single mom raisin' her kids
I'm for the preachers who stay on their knees
And I'm for the sinner who finally believes
And I'm for the farmer with dirt on his hands
And the soldiers who fight for this land

Chorus:
And I'm for the Bible and I'm for the flag
And I'm for the working man, me and ol' hag
I'm just one of manyWho can't get no respect
Politically uncorrect
(Merle Haggard)I guess my opinion is all out of style
(Gretchen Wilson)Aw, but don't get me started cause I can get riled
And I'll make a fight for the forefathers plan
(Merle Haggard)And the world already knows where I stand

Repeat Chorus

(Merle Haggard)Nothing wrong with the Bible, nothing wrong with the flag
(Gretchen Wilson) Nothing wrong with the working man me & ol' hag
We're just some of many who can't get no respect
Politically uncorrect
(Merle Haggard)Politically uncorrect

Have you Forgotten-

I hear people saying we don't need this war
But, I say there's some things worth fighting for
What about our freedom and this piece of ground
We didn't get to keep 'em by backing down
They say we don't realize the mess we're getting in
Before you start your preaching let me ask you this my friend
Have you forgotten how it felt that day?
To see your homeland under fire
And her people blown away
Have you forgotten when those towers fell?
We had neighbors still inside going thru a living hell
And you say we shouldn't worry 'bout bin Laden
Have you forgotten?
They took all the footage off my T.V.
Said it's too disturbing for you and me
It'll just breed anger that's what the experts say
If it was up to me I'd show it everyday
Some say this country's just out looking for a fight
Well, after 9/11 man I'd have to say that's right
Have you forgotten how it felt that day?
To see your homeland under fire
And her people blown away
Have you forgotten when those towers fell?
We had neighbors still inside going thru a living hell
And we vowed to get the one’s behind bin Laden
Have you forgotten?
I've been there with the soldiers
Who've gone away to war
And you can bet that they remember
Just what they're fighting for
Have you forgotten all the people killed?
Yeah, some went down like heroes in that Pennsylvania field
Have you forgotten about our Pentagon?
All the loved ones that we lost and those left to carry on
Don't you tell me not to worry about bin Laden
Have you forgotten?
Have you forgotten?
Have you forgotten?

Letters From Home-

My dearest son it's almost June
I hope this letter catches up with you, and finds you well
It's been dry but they're calling for rain
And everything's the same old same,
in Johnsonville Your stubborn old daddy ain't said too much
But I'm sure you know he sends his love
And she goes on, in a letter from home
I hold it up and show my buddies
Like we ain't scared and our boots ain't muddy
And they all laugh like there's something funny bout the way I talk
When I say momma sends her best y'all
I fold it up and put it in my shirt
Pick up my gun and get back to work
And it keeps me drivin' on
Waitin' on, letters from home
My dearest love it's almost dawn
I been lying here all night long
Wonderin' where you might be
I saw your momma and I showed her the ring
Man on the television said some things,
so I couldn't sleep
But I'll be all right
I'm just missin' you
And this is me kissing you X's and O's,
in a letter from home
I hold it up and show my buddies
Like we ain't scared and our boots ain't muddy
And they all laugh cause she calls me honey
But they take it hard, cause I don't read the good parts
I fold it up and put it in my shirt
Pick up my gun and get back to work
And it keeps me drivin' on
Waitin on, letters from home
Dear son I know I ain't written
And sitting here tonight alone in the kitchen it occurs to me
I might not have said it so I'll say it now
Son you make me proud
I hold it up and show my buddies
Like we ain't scared and our boots ain't muddy
But no one laughs, cause there ain't nothing funny when a soldier cries
And I just wipe my eyes
I fold it up and put it in my shirt
Pick up my gun and get back to work
And it keeps me drivin' on Waitin on, letters from home

I hope you enjoy these lyrics. Enjoy your 4th of July!

How neat, I hadn't heard of these songs before. Think I'll go on YouTube and see if I can find the music that goes with them. Happy 4th!

Morgan, you and I might just end up being great friends... I love country too, but the radio stations around here don't play very good stuff so I don't get to listen to it much.

I'm doing great-thank you for asking! Getting ready to enjoy a holiday weekend. Just out of curiosity, on what day in December were you born? My birthday is on the 22. :-)

Morgan, I don't like to have my age on Blogger, for security reasons. I just feel that it's safer if nobody knows exactly who I am, where I live, how old I am, all that stuff. Hope we can be friends anyway. :)

P.S. Your grandma has a good idea of my age, though...you might ask her.
